Corgi AA36702 Junkers Ju 88A-5 Luftwaffe 5./KG 30, "Adler Geschwader", Luftwaffe, Finland, 1941

The Ju 88 was a highly versatile aircraft that served various roles during World War II. It was designed as a heavy dive bomber and took its first flight on December 21, 1936. Due to its many functions, which included serving as a bomber, dive bomber, heavy fighter, night fighter, torpedo bomber, and reconnaissance aircraft, it was affectionately referred to as "The Maid of all Work".

The aircraft was produced in numerous variants, which made it one of the most widely produced twin-engined German planes of WWII. It was also Germany's most successful bomber of the war and became the Luftwaffe's primary bomber by 1942. The Ju 88 remained in use until the end of WWII, and several versions were provided to Germany's allies, including Finland, Hungary, Italy, and Romania.

The Ju 88A variant was the original bomber version, while the D variant was an ultra-long-range version. The Kampfgeschwader 30 "Adler" was formed on November 15, 1939, in Greifswald, with a Stabs-Staffel that existed from April 1940 to November 1944. On November 23, 1944, it was redesignated as Stab/KG(J)30 and disbanded on April 18, 1945.

Corgi's 1:72 scale Ju 88A series is a tribute to this iconic German aircraft. Each release highlights a different role and features various ordnance configurations. The model includes detailed dive brakes under each wing for dive-bombing missions, a delicate radar antenna assembly used for night fighters, a large birdcage canopy with moveable machine guns that provides easy viewing of the flight crew and rearward-facing gunner, and a detailed ventral gunner's gondola directly below. Detailed annular radiators and engine exhaust stacks complete this model.
