Corgi AA33706 Heinkel He 111H-4 Diecast Model Luftwaffe III./KG 26, Eastern Front, 1942

The Heinkel He 111 was a fast medium bomber used by the Luftwaffe during the early part of World War II. It was designed in violation of the Treaty of Versailles and first flew on February 24, 1935. The aircraft was versatile, serving as a medium bomber, strategic bomber, and torpedo bomber. During its early service career, the He 111 was one of the fastest aircraft in the world, reaching speeds exceeding 250 mph.

The Luftwaffe's KG26s used a tactic called the "golden comb" to attack convoys effectively. They employed torpedo-carrying He 111s that attacked in a low-altitude abreast formation at dusk when visibility was at its poorest.

Corgi's 1:72 scale He 111 series replicates this famous symbol of the WWII German bomber forces (Kampfwaffe). The model is mainly constructed using diecast metal, with only a small amount of plastic. It features a distinctive massive elliptical wing and tail along with a large offset "greenhouse" nose canopy, which allows for easy viewing of the pilot and forward gunner/bombardier lying prone over the bomb site. The model also has many defensive machine gun positions, such as a rotating dorsal mounted gunner, waist gunners, and an intricate ventral birdcage gondola. Other features include opening hinged bomb doors to reveal bomb details, an intricate ventral antenna, and subassembly landing gear.
